Film #21 of the Halloween 31
I think that the film is quite briskly paced. There is an adequate amount of character development, and then we get to the werewolf attack, which is a very well-designed scene. The suspense in that scene is excellent, with a combination of the lighting and the sound design creating tension within the atmosphere. After the attack, there is more character development, and then the transformation! The iconic transformation is the best scene in the film The effects for the scene are phenomenal. They still hold up extremely well today. Even the completed wolf holds up well to still look rather disturbing. All of this horror is complemented by a witty sense of humor, often satirical, and often quite hilarious. Other points of note include the extravagant set design and the cinematography.
So overall, I really love "An American Werewolf in London". If you like horror comedies or werewolf films, this is an absolute must, as it is enjoyable, and accomplished many technical feats.
