Film #25 of the Halloween 31
Where the films of Tyler Perry succeed is their genre dynamics. They manage to be funny, but endearing at the same time. Yes, they verge on melodramatic at times, but they are almost always entertaining. You also can't deny the fact that Perry develops his principal characters surprisingly well throughout the film. It's not a perfect film. There are plot holes. The secondary characters all perfectly represent a clear character archetype. Audiences agree, though, that his films are enjoyable. The humor works because of the charm of the characters and its relevance to modern society. Perry also creates some undeniably funny situations using the plot. I, along with the rest of the people watching the film, found myself laughing quite frequently.
So overall, I really enjoyed "Boo! A Madea Halloween". It's no Oscar-worthy film, but it is funny and offers some really good heartfelt moments. I will probably end up adding this film to my Halloween rotation.
