Film #20 of the Halloween 31
I don't expect quality from B-movies. I expect them not to take themselves seriously. I don't want them to be blatantly funny, but funny because they are bad movies. I feel like this film took itself a bit too seriously, investing a bit too much time in establishing the mythology of the characters to be truly effective. The best scenes in the film are the scenes in which we get to see the clowns wreaking havoc on the city. Other than that, it can be a bit slow. The protagonists aren't well-developed enough for it to be a character-driven film, so it relies on the action of the film to keep the audience intrigued. The special effects are cheesy as are the costumes for the clowns, but it is done so in a way that can be deemed humorous.
So overall, "Killer Clowns from Outer Space" is a somewhat enjoyable B-movie horror-comedy, but it is nowhere near my favorite. There are other B-movies that would be a more enjoyable consumption of your time.
