I often enjoy Michael Moore's films because of his unique brand of sarcasm, so when I heard about "Michael Moore in TrumpLand" during its theatrical release, I was intrigued. I finally decided to buy it on iTunes. While it was enjoyable like Moore's other films, it is nowhere near as attention-grabbing.
This film wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. I thought that it would be more about the opposition of the show and less about the show itself, almost like a stand-up special. In actuality, the film only had about 5 minutes of the material that I would have expected from Moore, and all of the rest was a recording of his one-man show. In fact, with such a short runtime, Moore could have easily added more interviews and material about the opposition of the show, but the film was put together in just a couple of days, which shows. The show is basically Michael Moore's political rant, which definitely has a lot of his signature sarcasm and humor, but I ended up multitasking while I listened to it. There isn't anything particularly good about the camerawork or editing. In my opinion, the film wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I had expected.
So overall, "Michael Moore in TrumpLand" is a funny political rant by Michael Moore, but it isn't a great documentary film. Fans of Moore's humor may want to check it out, but it isn't of urgent quality.
