Studying early film in a class, we watched the Charlie Chaplin film "Modern Times". I had actually forgotten how much I loved this movie and Chaplin's humor. This is definitely a film that should be seen by everyone at least once in their life.
The storytelling of this film is great. It is part silent and part dialogue-driven. The visual storytelling is especially impressive, given the fact that he is able to give so much emotion without dialogue. The sound-based elements are also great and iconic, such as Chaplin's song towards the end of the movie or the conveyor belt scene in the beginning that has been recreated many times before.
The film is also very well-made in general. The production design is extremely impressive for the time, especially that in the factory in the beginning of the film. The cinematography also has some beautiful parts.
So overall, "Modern Times" is a hilarious well-made film. If you haven't seen it, you should definitely try to find it.
