The film manages to maintain the quality of its predecessor without improving on much. Performances remain good, with the welcome addition of Daniel Radcliffe, who makes a good villain. The magic tricks were still creative and interesting, relatively well-explained, for the most part. There are still some very obvious plot holes in the film, however the film remains extremely funny and interesting.
There were two things that I noticed that were different in quality between the two films. One negative difference is that the film is much more predictable than the first, however, this was unavoidable, as the first movie showed us the characters' strategies, though there was still one twist that was not what I was expecting. A change for the better in this film was that the romance in the film felt more natural than the romance in the first film. With the replacement of the female character, the dialogue between Franco and Caplan is much funnier and has a much more natural flow than that of Eisenberg and Fisher in the first movie.
So overall, "Now You See Me 2" largely maintained the quality and level of fun of the first film. If you are a fan of the original, you should definitely check this one out.
