This is the first stand-up special that I've has the chance to watch since I started writing on here, and I had to debate on whether or not to write a review. Its wide accessibility on Netflix, however, led me to decide to write about my opinion, despite the fact that the review will be quite short.
I like Birbiglia's style of humor. This special definitely has a lot in common with his film, "Sleepwalk with Me", which I liked a lot. He talks about his own personal anecdotes, and while he is obviously joking about them, he tells them in a very serious way, giving his comedy an almost sarcastic feel to it, which I find to be rather enjoyable. I thought that it wasn't as consistently funny as his film, but it still had a good amount of laughs. I also liked how Birbiglia told a comprehensive story through his comedy, rather than just pulling a bunch of jokes together and calling it a show.
So overall, "Mike Birbiglia: My Girlfriend's Boyfriend" is a funny, likable stand-up special on Netflix. Fans of the comedian will be pleased.
