I am a fan of Mike Birbiglia, so I made sure to watch his new stand-up special. This one addresses his usual topics, like the entertainment industry, but also addresses additional ones, like religion, so has the potential to offend some.
One thing that I really like about Birbiglia is that he tells a story through his comedy. His comedy doesn't just make fun of political issues, but he relates it to his own experiences. As such, I feel like watching his comedy specials is a more enjoyable viewing experience than watching many others. That being said, I still find his comedy to be quite hilarious. I found myself laughing frequently at his jokes about jokes. And luckily, his jokes aren't ridiculously raunchy. There was one are that had a few sexual jokes, and one that had a lot of profanity, but they were actually funny, not just for shock value.
Overall, I think that "Mike Birbiglia: Thank God for Jokes" is a very funny stand-up special. If you are a fan of his other work, I definitely recommend checking it out.
