I definitely thought that this film looked enjoyable based on the trailers. I just re-watched the original to refresh my memory of the events of the film. I was very happy to find that I would be watching the film with a relatively full audience, as I love to see how the crowd reacts during comedies.
This film was exactly what I expected: a bright, fun little romantic comedy. The film didn't have much originality, but neither did the previous installment. In fact, this film played out to many of the same points that the original did, but with some changes. By that, I mean that the basic storyline of the films is the same "culture shock" meets "fish-out-of-water" romantic comedy that the previous one was. That being said, it was still very enjoyable, and the jokes didn't feel as recycled. Yes, there were some jokes and even lines repeated from the first film, such as the Windex bit (which actually still remains funny), but the film didn't rely too much on these and as a result, the film didn't really get old quickly.
As with the first one, there wasn't really anything that poorly made about it other than the unoriginality, however, there is nothing extraordinary either. I even feel like this film focused more on the wedding, which was one of my complaints about the original. John Stamos made a hilarious cameo too, but I wish that they would have used his character more.
So, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is definitely a very fun time. If you are a fan of the original, you will definitely like this one, so if you want to have some fun at the movies, check it out.

I look at films as if through old red and blue 3D glasses— one lens is as art, one lens is as entertainment.
