I saw this movie twice in theaters, and bought it immediately when it came out on DVD, however I have only been able to watch parts of it every now and again when I got the chance. To celebrate May the 4th, we watched this film in our film class.
I really love this movie. It is pretty much a more polished version of "A New Hope", however I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing in this case, as it works well.
The new additions of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, and Poe were welcome. Oscar Isaac is one of my favorite actors, and he brought a phenomenal amount of charisma to Poe Dameron, which could have potentially been an otherwise somewhat forgettable character. Adam Driver, another one of my favorite actors, was an awesome villain. Daisy Ridley and John Boyega were also great in their roles. And of course, all returning cast members were great, especially Harrison Ford.
So overall, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is definitely a movie that all fans of the series absolutely need to watch (if they haven't done so already). New viewers should also give it a try. This had the potential to be bad, but ended up just what the fans had hoped for.

I look at films as if through old red and blue 3D glasses— one lens is as art, one lens is as entertainment.
