I am a fan of Jack Black as an actor, but I knew little of his music other than he has a good voice in little clips that I have seen of him singing. A friend has been recommending this film to me for quite a while, so when I was browsing HBO and found it, I decided to give it a watch.
The music is inarguably the best part of the film. Jack Black does have a great voice, and the lyrics of their songs are funny and interesting. They are catchy and pretty decent rock songs, and I am not a fan of metal rock and roll music.
The film is otherwise a fairly standard entry into the stoner buddy-comedy genre. There are a few good laughs out of the main characters and some funny cameos by Ben Stiller and Tim Robbins, however it wasn't great in this department.
So overall, "Tenacious D" isn't a total waste of time, and it is good for a few laughs, but it isn't really worth seeking out.

I look at films as if through old red and blue 3D glasses— one lens is as art, one lens is as entertainment.
