"V for Vendetta" used to be one of my favorite movies, but it has been I long time since I last saw it. In a film class, I got to watch it again, and I remembered how much I loved it.
The writing of this film is really good. Its satire is amazing, and the characters are extremely well-developed. The many eloquent monologues delivered by V are fabulous, adding to the meaning of the film, while also serving as humor. There are some definite homages in the film to other dystopian tales, such as George Orwell's "1984".
The style of the film is also very good. The production design is absolutely phenomenal. The visuals sometimes get a bit out of hand, with the slow motion or the excessive explosions, with the Wachowskis' influence definitely able to be seen in the film. The action of the film is extremely stylized, and well choreographed, though. The acting in the film is also extremely strong, with my personal favorited being Hugo Weaving and Stephen Rea.
Overall, I really like "V for Vendetta". It is a fun movie with a lot to say, and it is done well. I highly recommend it for fans of comic book action films.
