I remember that I used to love "Zoolander", but as my taste has become more diverse, it has slipped away from me. I haven't seen it in a few years, but I decided that with the release of the sequel, it was time for me to take my copy of "Zoolander" off of the shelf and watch it again.
This film is definitely a dumb comedy, however it is probably dumb comedy at one of its finest points. The charm of Ben Stiller is undeniable, at least to me, and he's hilarious. The film had me laughing at multiple times. The film also contains many homages to classic films, including a memorable one to "2001: A Space Odyssey". I can also note that many more modern things also take jokes from this film, such as the "files in the computer" bit.
Being a dumb comedy, however, "Zoolander" certainly has its flaws. For example, why, if Matilda has uncovered this plot, does she not turn Zoolander into the police where he would be kept in custody until after the show? There are many other flaws in logic like this in the film.
Overall, "Zoolander" really was a lot of fun, and it gave me a sense of nostalgia for the time when I used to absolutely love it. I am looking forward to watching the sequel.

I look at films as if through old red and blue 3D glasses— one lens is as art, one lens is as entertainment.
